Over the years, adidas has teamed up with countless NBA players to create unique sneakers for the masses. Minnesota Timberwolves player Anthony Edwards is the latest baller to have their own adidas shoe, and while fans are sure to line up to buy them, one person you can expect to not wear them is 13-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant

Edwards shared that Durant is the one person in the league he’d love to see wear his new orange and black kicks. Durant, meanwhile, was blunt with his answer. “[You] won’t EVER see me put a big toe in them [motherfuckers],” he wrote on X.

Won’t EVER see me put a big toe in them Mfers. https://t.co/6dxKV55QPi

Edwards didn’t seem to take as much offense to it as adidas itself. In a since-deleted post, the apparel brand responded to Durant with a pretty pointed diss. “You dusty,” the account said. “Bouta retire soon anyway.”

While some brands online have taken a more casual approach to interacting with customers, adidas isn’t one of them, making the post that much more confusing. After it was removed, the adidas account posted a clarification: “Meant to send that from the burner account…”

meant to send that from the burner account…

It’s not like Durant will be doing any business with adidas in the near future anyway. Durant signed his first deal with Nike in 2007 and inked a lifetime deal with the brand earlier this year—a conflict of interest that Edwards acknowledged. adidas, then, seemingly had nothing to lose in sending that frank response to Durant.

Edwards’ adidas collection will be available for purchase soon with shoe sizes for the whole family.
