Swimming pools are a great way to beat the heat, but having one on your property can incur hefty maintenance, repair, and insurance expenses; not to mention the time involved in the upkeep. So perhaps this is why homeowners outside of Greensboro, NC decided to convert their in-ground pool into an underground man cave, complete with a rustic home bar.

The property in question is currently for sale, and the real estate listing caught the attention of the popular Zillow Gone Wild social media accounts, which posted over the weekend: “Why have a swimming pool when you can turn it into a bar? Currently listed for $340,000 in High Point, NC.”

In photos from the listing, you can see what clearly used to be the in-ground pool now modified with steps leading down to the bottom, which has been since covered in astroturf. In addition to a fire pit and children’s playhouse, about one-third of the pool has been built into an underground structure, now containing the bar area.

According to the Zillow listing, the three-bedroom, four-bath home was built in 1984 on a 0.78 acre lot. “In your own backyard, discover the meticulously crafted outbuilding, currently being used as a man-cave,” the description states. “This versatile space is perfect for pursuing hobbies, hosting gatherings, or simply escaping for some relaxation.”

Though, as the listing began to go viral, with over 5 million views in less than 24 hours, many wondered the same thing. “Yeah that’s gonna flood,” wrote one user, while another asked: “Won’t this just flood?” “I hope they have some great drainage because it’s going to suck with each rain and snow storm,” offered another user.

It’s unclear how the current owners have managed to keep the space dry. But on the plus side, if whoever buys the property doesn’t appreciate a potentially flooded man cave, they can always convert it back into a swimming pool. Problem solved!
