Coffee Smoothie

Kick off your day with this powerful, scrumptious beach cafe-inspired coffee smoothie.

Coffee Smoothie

Having coffee in a smoothie may not be groundbreaking, but this is certainly NOT a frappe you would get at a chain coffee spot.

So, like any basic girl, I start my day with a flavorful coffee, like Caramel Vanilla Iced Coffee , and a light breakfast. Let’s make our lives so much easier and have our coffee in our brekky. I first tried a similar recipe while in Palm Beach and was hooked. I felt awake, nourished, and satisfied all morning. It is one of those light “meals” that you will thank yourself for indulging in. I decided to make this recipe my own at home and have never looked back.

You will love this Coffee Smoothie recipe because it is so simple and delicious. It takes no time (which is great because who has any time in the morning? With two little ones. Not me.) And just like our Blueberry Smoothie, it only requires a couple of ingredients.

Aside from making this scrumptious beverage while you rush around in the morning, it can also be served as a bomb treat if you have company. Pair this smoothie with Spinach and Artichoke Egg Muffins for a classy gluten-free breakfast to wow your friends.

Is Coffee Smoothie Healthy?

This coffee smoothie is not only delicious but also vegan and gluten-free. This recipe can also be Whole 30 compliant (depending on the protein powder you use), but not Keto, because unfortunately, bananas are not Keto friendly. Anyway, there are AMAZING health benefits that come along with this refreshing smoothie recipe.

Coffee and cold brew have been proven to increase mental activity and increase energy levels. Also, cold brew has tons of antioxidants which may reduce inflammation and lower the risk of several diseases.

These benefits combined with the potassium in bananas and the protein in the protein powder and almond milk, certainly make this a healthy recipe.

The Perfect Boost To Start Your Day

Starting your day with a coffee smoothie is an excellent way to energize yourself while getting a serving of fruit, protein, and fiber. It’s like a one-stop shop for wellness. We already discussed the benefits of coffee and cold brew, but the main appeal of this recipe is having everything very easily combined.

Instead of being packed with artificial sweeteners and sugar, this recipe uses bananas to sweeten it up and creamy almond butter for more depth and flavor. Almond butter is not only a delicious addition, it has “good fats” which aid in maintaining proper levels of cholesterol and improve heart health.

FAQs & Tips

How to Make Ahead and Store?

This recipe can be made ahead and stored in a mason jar or any airtight container in the freezer. To enjoy, allow the smoothie to thaw overnight in the fridge or throughout your day at work.

What about freezing?

Another tip to make this smoothie ahead is to measure your ingredients (aside from the coffee and protein powder) freeze them and then combine them with the remaining ingredients when you are ready to enjoy. This will have a more desirable consistency than thawing it after it has been combined into a smoothie.

Coffee cubes!

You can also pour coffee or cold brew into an ice tray. Once it is frozen use the coffee cubes in the smoothie for a refreshing, frothy, taste.

How can I make this sweeter (but still healthy)?

You can use honey or dates (pitted and soaked) to sweeten this coffee smoothie. Feel free to add a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg for a fragrant autumn taste.

Any substitutions for those with allergies?

My sister is allergic to tree nuts, so I made this with peanut butter and soy milk for her. Feel free to use whatever milk you prefer or whatever you have on hand. Just know that the coffee smoothie will not be vegan or whole 30-compliant.
