Rebel Wilson Asked About Working With Sacha Baron Cohen Again
There continues to be no love lost between Rebel Wilson and Sasha Baron Cohen. On Monday night, the 44-year-old actress stopped by Watch What Happens Live, while doing whirlwind promotion for her new memoir, Rebel Rising. And naturally, host Andy Cohen brought up the allegations that Wilson details in her book.
While filming the raunchy 2016 comedy The Brothers Grimsby, Wilson claims that Baron Cohen repeatedly asked her to violate her no-nudity clause and at one point, pulled down his pants on set and asked her to stick her finger up his butt.
For his part, the London native has denied the allegations. But adding another layer to the gossip is that Baron Cohen and his wife of nearly 15 years Isla Fisher announced that they were divorcing just days after the scandal broke. So it seems as though this may not the last we’ve heard of this story, which is certainly why Cohen brought it up.
“How much money would it take for you to work with Sacha Baron Cohen again?” he asked Wilson during the show’s “Plead the Fifth” segment, who responded: “No money ever. Yeah. I have a no a-holes policy with work.”
When asked if she would do it for $20 million, Wilson shook her head no. Even for $30 million or $50 million, the blonde was adamant, eliciting shock from her fellow guest, Allison Brie.
In her book, Wilson recalled consulting with a lawyer due to the allegedly hostile working environment, but was “encouraged to ‘be professional and finish the film.” Still, even after filming wrapped, she says she was subjected to reshooting a sex scene.
“I filmed the scene, after demanding rewrites. But I still had to simulate having sex with this guy. I still had to kiss him repeatedly,” she wrote. “It really sank in that all this wasn’t something that could be laughed off. I relayed to the producers that I would not be doing any promotion for the film.”
While $50 million may be a lot of money to turn down, it sounds as though she’s had her fill of working with Baron Cohen.
