Air Fryer Salmon Bites

As a Jewish woman who grew up in Southern California, it goes without saying I love seafood. I say it all the time, but I really should not have to. I grew up eating sushi, lox, and poke. I used to say if I could find a way to enjoy fish for every meal (and snacks in between) I probably would. That is how I found this recipe for air fryer salmon bites, the perfect way to get delicious, crispy, and bite-sized salmon for any occasion. I have found myself putting salmon bites on salads and pasta dishes as well as eating them by themselves as a quick meal or snack. Taking less than twenty minutes to prepare and cook, you are going to love this recipe.

I do not know where salmon bites originated but I know the simplicity of this recipe is only the beginning of its appeal. Removing the skin and cutting your salmon into equal one-inch cubes allows for even cooking. A simple seasoning of salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic gives the most appealing crispy exterior with a juicy, flavorful, flaky, and tender center. Garnished with lemon wedges to add a slight kiss of tangy citrus flavor, you really cannot go wrong with this recipe.

Are Air Fryer Salmon Bites Healthy?

Salmon bites are a great source of lean protein, they have low carbohydrate levels and are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. The salmon bites are cooked in the air fryer which is generally considered a healthier cooking method as it does not require excessive oils and fats. The seasoning for the salmon bites is very simple and basic, including garlic which is rich in antioxidants and paprika which helps reduce inflammation. There is no gluten present in this recipe which makes it ideal for those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance.

How do I know I have a good salmon fillet?

The key to perfect salmon bites is a perfect fillet of salmon. Whether you are buying a full salmon to prepare yourself or just fillets, there are several characteristics you should always look for. The first way to know if your salmon fillet is quality is odor, you do not want your fish to smell too fishy. The longer the salmon has sat the more the cells of the fish continue to break down making the smell stronger and letting you know it is not good quality. Second is color, the flesh should be vibrant and moist with a rich pink tone and the skin should be consistent. Finally, is texture, when you push your finger against the fillet it should snap back to position quickly, if the indent remains then the fillet is not good quality. If you are going to a true fish market and filleting your own salmon make sure the eyes are not milky and that they are bright with dark pupils. The brighter the eyes the fresher the fish.
