During an interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show last week (via People), Oppenheimer Oscar-nominee Emily Blunt revealed that some of her leading men have been such bad kissers that it’s left her nauseated.

Explaining that she endeavors to create on-screen chemistry with her male leads regardless of their off-screen feelings towards one another, Blunt lamented that crafting a rapport is sometimes impossible.

“Chemistry is this strange thing,” she explained. “It’s an ethereal thing that you can’t really bottle up and buy or sell. It’s like there or it’s not…I’ve had chemistry with people I didn’t like.”

“Who?” Stern asked directly, in his trademark fashion.

“I’m not gonna tell you,” Blunt demurred. “I have had chemistry with people who…I have not had a good time working with,” she added, still refusing to identify anyone.

Stern noted that Blunt has played her share of romantic leads opposite the likes of Tom Cruise (Edge of Tomorrow), Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Jungle Cruise), and Ewan McGregor (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen). He then asked Blunt, of kissing her less appealing co-stars, “Have you wanted to throw up?”

“Absolutely. Absolutely,” she responded without hesitation. “I wouldn’t say it’s sort of extreme loathing, but I’ve definitely not enjoyed some of it.”

Notably, Blunt specified that she wasn’t talking about her Oppenheimer co-star, Cillian Murphy; nor Ryan Gosling, whom she romances in last weekend’s big release, The Fall Guy.

“I love his wife, Eva. I love their children, and I feel like I’m very lucky to be friends with a gem of a person like him,” Blunt said of Gosling.

Blunt’s remarks come just days after Anne Hathaway made similar comments to V Magazine about the “gross” casting process she was forced to endure as a young actor, which saw her make out with several strangers.

“I thought, ‘Is there something wrong with me?’ because I wasn’t excited,” Hathaway recalled. “I thought it sounded gross…I was so young and terribly aware of how easy it was to lose everything by being labeled ‘difficult,’ so I just pretended I was excited and got on with it…It was just a very different time and now we know better.”

The Fall Guy is in theaters now. You can check out The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM channels 100 and 101.
