Mark Consuelos Is Happy Not to Be Shirtless in His Latest Acting Role

Mark Consuelos is appearing in a new Max series, The Girls on the Bus, which follows four female journalists investigating a group of flawed presidential candidates. In the series, Consuelos plays a “Hollywood action star-turned-politician with presidential hopes,” which is a departure for the actor, who has previously appeared in soap operas and dramas such as All My Children and Riverdale.

And one of the perks of starring in the political drama, compared to some of his past roles, is that Consuelos even gets to keep his clothes on. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the 52-year-old was asked if he was “envious” of his co-star, Scott Foley, who strip downs in one scene.

“I wasn’t jealous at all. Are you kidding? No, no, no, no,” Consuelos said, laughing. “I’m happy just to wear a jacket.” He added that his wife and LIVE with Kelly and Mark co-host Kelly Ripa didn’t mind either. “I think she was happy for me,” he added. “Especially the kids.”

Consuelos was referring to the three children he shares with Ripa, Michael, 26, Lola, 22, and Joaquin, 21.

The character likewise seems ripped from the headlines, in a possible nod to billionaire Mark Cuban, who famously commissioned a three-way poll in 2020 to see how he’d match up against President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

“Yeah, he ran a Twitter poll and he—just out of spoof—he realized that he was polling very, very high, like the highest of all the other candidates, which is kind of like, you know, interesting,” Consuelos explained.

However, he was quick to shoot down the idea of any personal political aspirations. “I don’t think… it would take— there isn’t a dollar sign high enough,” he quipped.
