Breakups are never easy, and sometimes it can be difficult to take the high road when there are hurt feelings and tarnished egos involved. Such was evidently the case of a restaurant owner in Melbourne, Australia, who resorted to some fairly petty lengths to get revenge on a former girlfriend.

The storefront for Chingu Korean BBQ in the city of Caroline Springs went viral on social media platforms such as Reddit and TikTok due to an unusual sign taking up a not-insignificant amount of real estate on the front of the restaurant.

“Hey Sophia, you broke up with me because I was poor,” reads the sign, covering up part of the front window. “Now I have money to open a Korean BBQ, are you regretting it now?” A photo of the sign has been upvoted on Reddit over 4,000 times and users have left hundreds of comments since it was posted to the Melbourne subreddit last week.

Korean BBQ… with a vengeance??

Not surprisingly, many of the comments left by users were humorous in nature. Playing off the saying “revenge is a dish best served cold,” one user wrote: “Revenge is a dish best served barbecued,” to which another deadpanned: “She got skewered.”

Many people were suspicious of the sign, suggesting that it could be a gimmick to gain word of mouth for the new restaurant. But if the sign is indeed real, at least one person noted that it sounds like Sophia made the right decision. “Yeah, but she could have had unlimited free Korean BBQ every day for the rest of her life,” chimed in another user. “Tough choices to make.”

Hey, never underestimate the power of a good bulgogi. Sophia just may want to reconsider, if she hasn’t already moved on with a hot pot guy.
