Are Pistachios Good for you?
Absolutely, YES! Pistachios are a fantastic food to incorporate into your diet because they are LOADED with nutrients for your body! Pistachios have a high amount of protein as well as high levels of unsaturated fatty acids and potassium. They are also busting at the seams with fiber and minerals to keep your blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol in a healthy range. On top of all of that, they taste GREAT and even picky eaters love them!
Ingredients Needed
Just like when making cashew butter, rounding up everything you will need to make pistachio butter is going to be pretty simple, because you will only need THREE ingredients! That’s right, you can make your own healthy and delicious nut butter in the comfort of your own home FASTER than it would take you to drive to the store to buy a jar! Here’s what you will need:
Raw Pistachios
Salt
Honey
How to make Pistachio Butter
Now that you’re on board with making your own homemade nut butter, it’s time to get started! It’s seriously SO easy to make, so you will be enjoying it on a slice of toast or a muffin in no time at all! Here’s how:
Toast
Fire up the oven and spread the pistachios on a large baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake until they are nice and toasted.
Process
Place the nuts in a large food processor, along with the salt ,and process until the butter is smooth and well blended. This will take some time, as the seeds take a while to break down and release their oils.
Stream
Once smooth, stream in the honey and blend until smooth.
DEVOUR
Spread on ALL THE THINGS and enjoy!
Recipe Variations
There are so many possibilities when it comes to dressing up this pistachio butter recipe a little bit to take it to the next level. Add in a dash of cinnamon for a bit more warmth, throw in a splash of vanilla if that’s your favorite, or you could even toss in some cocoa powder for a chocolate walnut butter variation. However you choose to enjoy this recipe, it’s bound to be absolutely delish!
What to use Nut Butter On
There are endless ways to enjoy this tasty nut butter! I recommend baking some warm oat flour banana bread or even a batch of healthy oat bran muffins and spreading some nut butter generously on top! You could also drizzle it over eggless brownies or add a spoonful to your low carb keto oatmeal for an extra dose of YUM!
How to store Homemade Nut Butter
Once you’ve processed up your nut butter, it’s time to store it. I recommend keeping your nut butter in an airtight container or small jar in the fridge. It will last up to about one month in the fridge, maybe longer, so make sure to label it with the date! You can also freeze nut butter and it will last up to 3 months in the freezer.
