Realtor Discovers Creepy Hidden Room Within Bathroom
A realtor kicked up quite a storm on TikTok after posting a creepy video showcasing a “secret room” within one of her properties. The clip, which has accrued nearly 85,000 views, was posted by Lauren Rockel, a Keller Williams agent stationed in Grand Rapids, MI.
“Secret rooms are one of my absolute favorite things to find when I’m showing homes,” Rockel tells viewers as she opens up the door to an old-fashioned-looking bathroom. Turning to face the room’s corner, Rockel isolates a set of shelves located behind the bathtub.
“I noticed some hinges on the outside of this built-in cabinet, so naturally I had to give it a little tug,” she explained.
Rockel swings open the shelving unit to reveal a completely hidden room beyond the frame. Noting that it appears to have been designed as a storage space rather than a room for anyone to occupy, Rockel moves around the corner to reveal a frosted glass wall.
“Look at how creepy this is,” Rockel intones as she reveals the glass wall to be the other side of the shower partition. The secret room looks directly out into the bathroom, and anyone in the shower would likewise be able to peep directly into the “hidden” space.
Commenters were roundly unsettled by the reveal. “My reactions: ‘Oh, cool!’ ? ‘Oh, no.’ ?,” wrote one user. “??? absolute same,” Rockel responded.
“I’d always think someone was hiding in there watching me,” another viewer wrote.
But some were rather pacified by the thought of a secret room that few people would be aware of. “I love secret rooms because I have a weird fear of home invasions,” wrote someone named Danielle, “and they’d be perfect to hide in.”
Others weighed in with their preferred renovation ideas for the disused space. “Dude, why wouldn’t they blow that out and make the bathroom bigger?” Erika Bobier asked.
But Rockel has a different plan for the space: “I’d throw some pillows in there, add some Christmas lights, and stash all the good snacks,” she said.
