Richard Simmons Clarifies He’s Not Dying After Cryptic Social Media Post
Former television personality and fitness guru Richard Simmons gave fans quite the scare on Monday, so much so that the 75-year-old was forced to backtrack a short time later.
It all started when Simmons told his followers that he had “some news” to share. “Please don’t be sad. I am ….dying,” he posted to social media. “Oh I can see your faces now. The truth is we all are dying. Every day we live we are getting closer to our death.”

In a series of follow-up posts, Simmons explained that he wanted fans to “enjoy your life to the fullest every single day,” offering motivational words about a healthy diet, getting active, and appreciating loved ones. Essentially, the kind of content that put Richard Simmons on the map to begin with.
He concluded his sentiments by noting that “a big hug really goes a long way,” and that his followers should listen to the Tim McGraw song, “Live Like You Were Dying.”
However, the entirety of Simmons’ message inadvertently got lost by people who stopped reading at the literal words, “I am dying.” Sure, like he said, we’re all dying, in a sense. But quite understandably, while many fans got the gist of what he was saying, others worried that Simmons might be attempting to gently break some sad news.
“Sir, I didn’t know you were sick but I do know you are the most sincere star I’ve ever met,” replied one fan. “Bless you and all you’ve done for the world.”
And so, just hours later, Simmons posted another update.
“Sorry many of you have gotten upset about my message today. Even the press has gotten in touch with me. I am not dying,” he stated. “It was a message about saying how we should embrace every day that we have. Sorry for this confusion.”
“Love, Richard,” he added, using his trademark sign-off.

But considering that Simmons mysteriously hasn’t been seen in public in over a decade now, you can hardly blame fans for worrying. In either case, it’s good to know that Richard Simmons is alive and well, and continuing to inject his brand of infectious positivity into the world.
