Altra has made a name for itself in the running world with its dedication to the zero-drop shoe; the heel and toe are the same distance from the ground, which is designed to encourage a more natural, lower-impact stride. The company applies this approach to its road running shoes as well as its trail running shoes, including the popular Lone Peak line.

The lugs on the outsole are designed to mimic the metatarsals, giving the tread a claw-like appearance for sure footing on uneven ground.
