The Defender Service Awards: Rallying Support for Our Veterans and Civil Servants

The spotlight is now on the 2023 Defender Service Awards, particularly the Veteran and Civil Servant Outreach Award. This exceptional award, presented in association with Hearts & Science, is an opportunity to recognize the steadfast dedication of organizations working for our veterans and civil servants.

The road to the finals witnessed an inspiring number of applicants, each showcasing a profound commitment to the cause. As a result of rigorous selection, five outstanding finalists have emerged. The decision now rests with the community to select the most deserving recipient.

Establishing and sustaining a veteran non-profit is a commendable feat, laden with challenges. Many of these noble institutions are spearheaded by veterans themselves, individuals who, after dedicating a chunk of their lives to national service, continue their mission to assist fellow veterans. With fundraising challenges intensifying as the Global War on Terrorism recedes from the public consciousness, the Defender Service Award becomes a beacon of hope for many veteran and civil servant non-profits. The accolade provides more than recognition; it offers tangible support. The triumphant organization will receive a customized Defender 130 model and a substantial $25,000. However, every finalist carries forward a legacy of service, and each will be honored with a $5,000 prize to further their mission.

This year’s finalists are:

Calgary Veterans Service Society

Heroes Homestead

Honor House Society

The Big Red Barn Retreat

Warriors Choice Foundation
