This Vegan Hot Chocolate is so creamy and chocolate-y, you’d have no idea that it is dairy free! A warm and cozy drinkable treat!

Why you will LOVE This Recipe

In these colder months, I find myself always looking for delicious hot drink recipes to keep me cozy and warm during the workdays. I love treating myself to a gingersnap cookie steamer drink or some hot apple cider on a chilly day, and who doesn’t love a mug full of rich hot chocolate? If that sounds tasty to you, then I can guarantee that you will love this vegan hot chocolate recipe. It’s made with all the goodness of hot chocolate mix, but leaves out the dairy products, making it vegan friendly! This hot chocolate is rich, smooth, and is a decadent treat, perfect to enjoy with some vegan oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! I also love this recipe because you can make the mix ahead of time and use it whenever the craving hits!

Ingredients Needed

To make your very own vegan hot chocolate mix at home, you will need only a handful of ingredients and a jar with a lid or an airtight container to store it in! You likely have many of the ingredients you will need to make your hot chocolate mix already hanging out in your pantry, so let’s go ahead and put them to good use! Here’s everything you will need to make this recipe:

Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
Mini Dairy Free Chocolate Chips
Sugar or Sweetener of choice
Cocoa Powder
Pinch of Salt

How to make Vegan Hot Chocolate

This hot chocolate recipe is not only absolutely delicious, but it’s also SO simple to whip up and the perfect treat on a cold night! Here’s how to make it:

Mix

Add all the ingredients to a small pot and stir.

Simmer

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and whisk until everything is mixed in and the chocolate has melted.

Serve

Now all you need to do is adjust the sweetness, as needed, and enjoy the BEST vegan hot chocolate you’ve ever had!

Vegan Hot Chocolate Recipe Variations

If you are all over this hot chocolate recipe but want to take it up a notch and mix things up to suit your needs and preferences, I say go for it! There are so many ways to make this recipe your own. If you want to serve it up as a peppermint hot chocolate, you could add in a drop or two of peppermint extract and add a candy cane and some shaved chocolate on top when serving it. You could also switch up the milk you use- I recommend cashew milk as a substitute for the almond milk. Another fun idea would be to add in some nut butter (peanut, almond or cashew) along with the chocolate and it will melt to create peanut butter hot chocolate. This hot chocolate would also be delicious with a splash of coffee to create a mocha-type effect! The sky’s the limit with this recipe, so feel free to get creative and let me know how your vegan hot cocoa turns out!
