New Yorkers woke up today to find flash flooding across the city. An intense storm brought more than five inches of rain to some parts of the city, with areas of Queens and Brooklyn appearing to get hit the hardest. 

As Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency, social media footage of the deluge quickly poured in. The shocking footage showed flooded streets, subway platforms, and more, as city denizens braves floodwaters to go about their daily lives.

One clip showed a city bus continuing to operate through scary floodwaters, with passengers lifting their legs to avoid getting wet:

One unfortunate delivery driver was spotted wading through water on a scooter:

Unsurprisingly, the subway was also affected, with videos showing water pouring from walls, ceilings, and stairwells.

Rain was expected to continue throughout the day. According to The New York Times, the city is in the midst of its wettest September in more than 140 years, with more than 12 inches of precipitation since the start of the month.
